We're Going Crazy!!!

.
I thought I'd post an excuse (er...I mean explanation)
as to why my blog has been so seldomly updated of late.
.
.
.
One month after we listed our house for sale,
it went ahead and SOLD!!!!!
.
.
.
"That's great news," you might be saying!
.
.
.
And yes, it is good news.
.
.
.
The only thing is that Wisconsin gets a little...
ummmm...chilly during the winter, and well it just
isn't a good time or place to be homeless.
.
.
.
In this market, we thought we might have a year or
so to think about what our next move would be,
what type of house we wanted, what area we would be in...
you know, teeny tiny details like that.
.
.
.
So I began to dream about huddling beneath the
bridge in town on our big comfy couch
and a sleeping bag, my babies shivering as
snowflakes landed on their little frozen noses.
.
.
.
And then we began a fevered hunt for a house.
.
.
.
yadda yadda yadda (don't you just love to say that?!?),
we FINALLY found a house and can close just days
after we close on our existing house!
That means we only have to sleep on the sidewalk for 5 days
(just kidding...we really do have family who will
take us in. They WILL take us in...really).
.
.
.
Here's the timeline and excuse (explanation!!!!)
as to why my blog will continue to be lame for a few more weeks.
.
November 7: Moving party to move all our stuff into new
house garage...yay, it's a party...you should come...
it'll be Sooooooo fun! (wink)
.
November 10 - Close on existing house.
.
November 11 - My BIRTHDAY!!!
(homeless on my birthday...sigh)
.
November 12 - Close on new house.
.
.
p.s. I think I need a nap.

Too Small To Ignore is Too Good To Ignore!

.
Every now and then you run into a book
that makes your heart beat faster.
.
.
.
.
.
When you set it down, you just can’t seem to
break your mind from thinking about it.
.
.
.
.
.
When you finish the final page, you know you're a
different person than when you began the first page.
.
.
.
.
.
.
This was one of those books.
.
.
.
.
.
No words I have could possibly describe the
value of this book, so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE
read it. You will be better at life, I promise you.
.

I Am Here

.

Thanks for posting this, Buffy! It is my prayer every morning that I allow my life to count for something. It's in these moments I find life and all that I believe in is placed tangible in my hands.

.
We all had a special treat today...a SUBSTITUTE TEACHER!!!!
.
My Gram graciously offered to help out today (and I think I have her roped into EVERY Tuesday!) with our homeschooling projects! Here she is with the girls and their project for the day, Christopher Columbus (candy holders), the Nina, Pinta & Santa Maria, and a note from Christopher Columbus (as dictated by Brenin) to Queen Isabella of Spain in request of funding for the voyage. The girls had a great time, and I actually got some work done!
.
Thanks for the great day, Grams!
.

.
Luca's Christopher Columbus had purple hair and a sparkly pink jacket on...a little more fashion conscious than Brenin's. He unfortunately was attending a rather wild party in the city while this photo was being taken. (wink)
.
The letter reads: "Dear Queen Isabella: Would you please give me some money, your highness? If I make some, I would give you some back. I need it for my three ships. You are the most beautiful queen, your highness. (Gram and I think she's just buttering her up here). Thank you for your time. My people, we will be so happy. You will be invited to a celebration if the world is round and if I return. (hehe) Love, Christopher Columbus"
.
Precious moments all the way around!

Weekend Update

.
We celebrated our adoption day (which was actually Tuesday) Saturday night at the Ethiopian restaurant in Madison...finger lickin' good (oh wait, someone's already used that slogan, haven't they?)! All week I've been thinking how grateful I am to be on this side of the "mountain" and how rich our lives are with our two beautiful girls. I love how each of them came to our family and count each process a true miracle. So much to be grateful for!
.
You can guarantee not an ounce of this dorowat's chicken graced these lips. See that keen eye she's giving her mama? That's business, folks...real meat-watching business! Can't slip nothin' past this one! :-)
.
Brenin preparing her injera like an old pro. :-)
.
.
Today Danny had the opportunity to watch the Packers WIN in Green Bay! The girls and I started some packing around here and then headed to my sister's for some pumpkin carving. It was another first for Luca, and she did great. The girl LOVES a project, so she was diligent in punching her little holes in the pumpkin pattern and thought the whole thing was a fine idea.

.
There's been lots to keep me from blogging these days including dead computers, house hunting and homeschooling, but here's a quick update.
.
.
.
We headed north for our final camping trip of the year this weekend.
.
.
.
You might be thinking, "Isn't it getting a little cool in Northern Wisconsin by this time of year?"
.
.
.
But no. It wasn't cold.
.
.
.
Not unless you consider 21 degrees cold.
.
.
.
Oh you do consider that cold?
.
.
.
Well then I guess it was a little nippy.
.
.
.
I guess the snow should have tipped us off on that one.
.
.
.
.
Don't worry, the 21 degrees came in the night.
.
.
.
During the day it was a balmy 37.
.
.
.
If I have to be perfectly honest (and I do...this is the Internet, for goodness sake), on our way to camp we stopped at Wal-Mart and bought some electric blankets.
.
.
.
They felt SOOOOOOO good.
.
.
.
I loved mine especially much.
.
.
.
I told Danny it was my new love.
.
.
.
He said it would wear out and I'd come back to him.
.
.
.
We'll just see about that.
.
.
.
Camping is fun at any temperature.
.
.
.
And electric blankets are fabulous.
.
.
.

Grandpa & Lukes
.
.

My mama...maker of oatmeal with chocolate chips.
Camping just wouldn't be camping without it (or her).
.
.
Bren & Tuck wrapping up a summer of expeditions and explorations.
.
.
A little homeless girl talking grandpa's ear off.
(Fashion vs. Frostbite)
.
.
.
.
And finally, nature rewarded us for braving the elements!
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Happy Fall, ya'll!
.
